Avalon State Park
Avalon State Park is located in Saint Lucie County along A1A in Fort Pierce. It is north of Fort Pierce State Park. This park is great for visitors that want to enjoy a day of fun at the beach. There are plenty of water activities on the beachfront, but also a trail to hike on the lagoon side.

History: Avalon State Park has a unique connection to World War Two. It was the training site for underwater missions that helped soldiers prepare for D-Day. One unique aspect of this state park is that it still has the cement objects that were put in eighty years ago.
Trail: A trail on the western side of A1A leads to an observation platform that overlooks the Indian River Lagoon.
