North Buck Lake Scrub Sanctuary

North Buck Lake Scrub Sanctuary

Summary: North Buck Lake Sanctuary is 181 acres. It is located in Mims in northern Brevard County.

Hours: Day Use.

Address: 4077 Cinnamon Teal Drive Mims, Fl, 32754.

Price: Free.

Parking: Yes, but not very developed.

Trails: Yes. They are unmarked and branch off in different directions. Unfortunately, trash is noticeable along certain parts of the trail near the water. Also, near the southern end of the sanctuary boundary, the fences between the sanctuary and the larger Conservation Area are poorly maintained, so hikers should be more careful. Other than that, the trail offers a view of a couple of different Florida environments, such as scrub, marsh, and flatwoods.

Camping: None.

Land Activities: Hiking, Wildlife Viewing.

Water Activities: None.

Unique Features: Natural Florida Environments.

The Ridiculous Otter Opinion: This sanctuary is a smaller version of the neighboring Buck Lake Conservation Area. Due to that and the lack of a good parking lot area, I don't think this sanctuary is a "must-see." However, the trails are still enjoyable if hikers are in this area and want to visit all Brevard Sanctuaries.
